Weekly (kinda) update

This will be an unusual update, which for me is very usual, so is it really unusual? Ponder that a moment.... Anyway, read close, I will be delivering a lot of info (I think).

First off, I had a booming headache yesterday. Could have been caffeine DTs, could have been just hunger, but that noggin of mine was in a vice grip. Good ole BHazy suggest I drink a beer as she had read somewhere that it helps with headaches. We were at a restaurant for dinner during this suggestion, okay it was Smokey Bones that my brother RHazy works at (between you and I, he runs the joint). They had Sam Adams Boston Lager on tap, so I give the remedy a shot. Two large beers later, I still have a headache but I am somewhat blistered (lightweight in the drinking arena, I specialize in designated driving) and my wife is amused as I am talking even more trash than normal. I finally resort to 800mg of Ibuprofen and sleep to get rid of my headache, but I did learn that my wife can have fun supervising a tipsy DHazy. Ummm, RHazy, I don't think I did anything to embarrass you, but you might want to check with the staff.....

Candi (my newest reader), I thought I would post specifically to you instead of replying to comments. Part of my open policy policy (what?). Anywho, in regards to your comments:
  • Offended by your comments on KHazy? Not in the least. My response in regards to uniqueness was sincere but not posted in anger. My wife and I are "unique" in that we are not typical. I am functionally anti-social and my wife married me anyway. I have slowly contaminated her way of thinking, so she has joined me in my life long pursuit of crazy. With the two of us in charge of KHazy, well you can guess what will happen...
  • Have I figured out who Anonymous is? yes, I know who it is. Despite his/ I mean "this person's" insistence that it is not him, I mean "them", I know who it is.
  • How did I make it up to BHazy for my slackness in regards to our Anniversary? Technically, I don't feel that I have completed my penance. I do have plans to work off part if not all of my self imposed sentence on my vacation coming up soon.
  • Pictures? Well, since I am a shy guy (yes I am, seriously, stop laughing), I am not one to deliberately jump in front of a camera. But if you really want to check me out, I have a few tasteful, artistic nudes at www.sexyalbinos.com, I invite you to check them out. My model name is Sexy Pale Rider.... Seriously, my wife has me plastered all over flickr, just be gentle in your comments. My ego is fragile....
Hey, I'm somewhat shocked at the lack of comments on my VT massacre post. I know I have written some rather aggressive and what some may deem hostile ramblings, but I felt sure that my "Perspective" entry would have generated some responses. Even my friend Tadpole who was in the military did not leave a comment. Come on people, I wrote that half expecting someone to get all righteously indignant over my trivializing what happened in Virginia. I hate it when I start an argument no one wants to participate in...

Not as much as I thought it would be. I must have writers block write now. I will need to work on a better post later I guess.

Let's keep things in perpective

First off, let me extend my deepest sympathies to the families of those students who lost their lives at Virgina Tech this week. That was truly a tragedy, not just in regards to lives lost but potential lost, and I say that for all 33 lives including that of the killer. Who knows what a few well timed, meaningful, supportive and uplifting statements made throughout that man's life might have created?

I have been inundated with messages asking me to show my support and proudly proclaim my "Hokie-ness" by wearing maroon and orange today (the maroon and orange movement started as a show of school spirit at sporting events). I even saw a VT logo filled with the logos of hundreds of other colleges, as institutes of higher learning all over the nation send their condolences and well wishes in support of Virginia Tech during this issue. Across the nation, alumni and non-attending people all want to show their solidarity in this troubling time.

But, let's keep things in perspective. Although what happened was an American tragedy, I am somewhat disappointed in the American public and their willingness to exclaim outrage and horror over that while they seemingly have become desensitized to the loss of American life that occurs daily overseas. As of today, the USA has lost 3358 soldiers in four years of fighting for our freedoms in Iraq- click here. On top of that, 24,645 soldiers have been wounded in that same time frame. It is predicted that fatalities will reach around 115 service men and women, with wounded reaching over 600. Those are numbers for the month of April, 2007.

The sad thing is, at most the events at Virginia Tech will see national attention for another 15-21 days (I give it no more than a week really). It will then see national exposure at the one year anniversary for those events. Due to the limited national impact (just being honest), after the one year anniversary it will only be remembered at VT and if another school killing takes place (heaven forbid).

But that is the nature of the human/American spirit. What were you hoping for? Americans having been dying by the hundreds of thousands (click here) protecting our freedoms and those of other nations that could not/would not fight for themselves, and the most those brave men and women can expect is a parade on Veterans day attended only by family members of those who have served or are serving in the US Armed Forces.

Do me a favor, get your collective PC heads out of your a$$es. What happened in VT was bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to what America has lost putting men and women in the field to fight for our right to send useless emails requesting I coordinate colors to show support. As an American, I refuse to call myself Hokie. I have too much respect for those men and women who suit up daily to fight for my right to type this rant to turn my back on them and demean their efforts by wearing mascot colors. Until America as a nation willingly and openly weeps for the lives lost in every war we have fought since the Declaration of Independence was adopted as the law of our land, you will have to forgive my unwillingness to "play along". Until then, I will mentally fly the colors I think truly show support of lives lost- olive green, desert brown, and camouflage.

OooRah.

Update on me- read on, you owe it to yourself

Well, here is a brief recap on what I have experienced in the last week or so:
  • Saw the movie "Borat", wasn't impressed. I do understand why he has been verbally and physically abused. Brought it on himself.
  • Saw the movie "Pursuit of Happyness". Pretty good movie. It shows the lengths a parent (father or mother) should be willing to go to to make a better life for their child.
  • Went to a Mediterranean restaurant with some friends. Took my son. Discovered he has a thing for belly dancers. Hey, she was good looking, I ain't mad at him.
  • Took my son to an indoor playground for kids called Monkey Joe's. I like the place, excellent place to take a child and let them wear themselves out. What I don't like is the fact that 12 year olds can play right beside my 2 year old despite the size and mass differences (although my son is pretty big). My son got hurt (bigger kid), I got mad, we left. Only because I didn't think I could get away with whipping 200 children that weren't mine.
  • Took my son to a mall with a children's play area. He got hurt again. His fault this time. He was zipping around about 100 mph, hit a smaller boy full tilt (pretty much hit the boy so hard his toenails popped off). So, since my son wouldn't slow down and was potentially going to pull a three-peat on damage incurred, I picked him up and physically removed him from the area. It was a 15 minute battle royale, and if I hadn't switched to trickery I may not have won.
  • Went and looked at some Affliction shirts. My son helped prevent me from making a purchase. Thank you KHazy.
  • I ate some M&Ms after my son went to bed. They were delicious. Sorry about that KHazy.
  • I ate about 6 helpings of my wife's spaghetti in 24 hours. I gained one (1) pound. Yes, I am dancing my "In your face" dance, which is different from my "You are about to get some of this" dance (Scrubs reference).
  • I am looking forward to next Monday, as "Heroes" comes back on. I am not happy that they are advertising these as the last five episodes. NBC, I will ask you nicely to not do this to me. Please, continue entertaining me and making millions on sponsorship advertising dollars. You are a broadcast network, I think somewhere in your bylaws you have to...
  • My wife got new bras. Hooray for me.
I think that gives voice to my inner dialog sufficiently enough to allow me some peace and quiet. Plus, I need at least 5-7 days to come up with happenings to top these.

The delicate balance of life

There is no more delicate balance than that of hunter and prey. Once Mother Nature allows a species to evolve beyond it's normal parameters, the balance can irrevocably change unless the other species is allowed the same opportunity. Barring that, hunter and prey will forever be entwined in a "dance" of repetition and duplication. In such instances, the prey has two simple choices: continue to allow predetermined fate to dictate the "life span" of said entity, or charge headlong into the "arms" of the hunter, to deliberately seek the "embrace" of the hunter, and see what Nature may have in store.

So, with a freshly shaved face and chest, my frame cleansed with a fragrant yet masculine body wash, and a pair of sexy underwearwear donned, I am prepared to "fight" for my life. I purposefully seek the hunter....

"Oh BHazy!!!!!!!!!! Where are you????"

Random Thoughts and Utterances

In an effort to keep my 6 fans (welcome aboard Candi) happy, I feel it is necessary to update my blog with a new post. And in keeping with the theme of the title, here goes....

  • Congratulations UFC and Mix Martial Artists everywhere. A highlight of the Matt Serra and George St Pierre fight was shown on Sportcenter Sunday Morning. Essentially, you can now say you're closer to being recognized as a legitimate sport. Gosh knows I find you more entertaining than baseball highlights/drama. FYI- I really expected Matt Serra to get destroyed, congratulations on your win Matt.
  • I like Affliction shirts. There, I said it. Do I think $40 for a tshirt is a little expensive? Nope. I think it's very f'ing expensive. Do I think I will succumb to my inner child and buy one simply because I want one? Yeah, either that or I will throw my self on the floor, thrash around and hold my breath tantrum style.
  • I care about you emotionally and financially Red Robin. You serve delicious hamburgers, and your atmosphere is conducive for bringing one rambunctious child. Am I mad that my wife walked 50 yards in front of me and my son whilst we were yelling in the restaurant? Not at you Red Robin, she's done it to me before. Something about embarrassing her. Whatever....
  • I really like the first book of the Malazan series. I really, really do. Go to Amazon.com, treat yourself....
  • I really like Amazon.com. They have a program that allows me to receive Kay's Natural snack chips in 1 business day. And I love Kay's Natural snack chips. Chili Nacho Cheese. Delicious.
  • Dear Candi, your comments were truly touching. Me and my wife, a unique couple? If by unique you mean "Their poor son will not be able to help the fact that he will be crazy as two crazy people are raising him", then yes we are unique. For the updated picture, is there a requested pose or shot you would like to see?
  • BHazy, you are changing daily, which is a good thing. I truly do enjoy the new, sporty, fun loving, wild, and hilarious woman you have been turning into. But yes, you still make me a little tired what with the talking and the laughing and the picking and the chasing of me you do....
  • KHazy, son, fruit of my loins, near perfect offspring- you are absolutely going to turn this planet on its head as you get older. And I am planning to enjoy my ring side seat. Without a doubt, you are one of the most frighteningly intelligent people regardless of age I have ever been around. And you make me tired too....
  • Mr Anonymous- I know who you are dude.

I think that's enough for now. Check back later for more ramblings. But not today. Don't know if I will post more today. By later I mean like later this week or month. Quit scratching your head, get back to work you slacker....

What's new with me??? Well, I tell ya....

This post will be dedicated to provide a satellite view of the goings on in my unadventurous life. Try to keep up, and try to stay awake.....

  1. I won a weight loss challenge between myself and 5 other guys. Closest competitor lost by 8lbs. I probably didn't lose the weight the right way, but it gives me the chance to rebuild my frame from scratch.
  2. My wife digs my 35lb lighter frame. I mean really digs it. Just bragging really, no point to this bullet point.
  3. Saw the movie "meet the robinson's". not a bad movie. maybe too mature/advanced for a 2 year old, but I managed to keep up with the story line and I thought it was actually a good movie. Thankfully, my son doesn't seem to need themed items for this movie like he did for "cars". I don't know where I would put it if he did...
  4. Saw the movie "babel" with Brad Pitt. I think it was by the same director as "crash". Maybe not, theme was similar- take three different but interconnected stories, and follow them all to conclusion. I liked "crash", this movie not so much. Maybe it was the middle eastern brutality. maybe it was the nude teenage Japanese girl. maybe it was the story of a Mexican nanny that makes a difficult decision and is punished for it. Whatever it is, I didn't like the movie.
  5. I finished the "Darkness" series by Harry Turtledove. Good series, takes a World War type story and spins it through a scifi/fantasy filter. Very Entertaining. And they use the word "futter" a lot. replacement for the word For Unlawful Carnel Knowledge.
  6. Started the Malazan series by Steven Erikson. Initial impression, I haven't been this excited about a story line since I picked up the "Black Company" series by Glen Cook.
  7. Went to my mom's house and ate 4 helpings of Chicken and Dumplings. The good kind. With dumplings made of biscuit dough, not that egg noodle crap. It was delicious. I think I am going to offer her money to make me a batch at least once a month. Why did I eat 4 helpings? Because if I had my way, 8 helpings would have gone down the hatch and I would have undone 12 weeks of work. Part of me still regrets not embracing those other 4 helpings.
  8. Saw my baby brother's son/my nephew this past weekend. Cute little rascal. He wasn't sure about me. I guess he doesn't normally have people as big as me go up and sniff him for rottenness. But he is rotten (spoiled rotten). I know rotten when I smell it.
  9. I wore a "I -heart- Hot Moms" shirt to the mall the other day. And I really do -heart- hot moms.
  10. I congratulated my wife for maintaining her love of the geriatric rocker known as Jon Bon Jovi. Hey, to each his/her own. I just wished that he had maintained his hard rock persona and not evolved into this heart felt lovey dovey a cappella old man crap. Jon, if you read this, you my friend are not rocking out with you c-ck out!!! See Alice Cooper, Ozzie Osborne, Metallica for examples.
  11. I have officially sworn off of pharmaceutical assistance in the search for a better physique. I have gotten tired of the issues that go along with it. And let's be honest, being that big wasn't benefiting anyone.
  12. My son has visited me at my job no less than three times. He seems to think that my office is fun. I sure wish I still did....
  13. I have nicknamed my son Parsley Sprite. This is in the theme of the Disney show "Johnie and the Sprites". His co-sprites are Ginger, Basil, Thyme, Cinnamon (part time exotic dancer at the Frisky Fairy....) and Oregano, I mean Minced Onion. I forgot the witness protection name change. Only those with children will have any concept of what this insane bullet point means.
  14. You can't end on thirteen. It just isn't proper. What with the superstitions and horror flicks. Hey, I saw the movie "300". Definitely a guy movie. Favorite tag line in the movie- Bad guy-"Our arrows will blot out the sun!!!" Spartan- "Then we will fight in the shade". Hell yeah!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it big boy....

That's it. I'm spent. Mentally exhausted. The demons have been exorcised. Be back in a few.
